Biography

Nikolai A. Sobolev received his MSc and Ph.D. in Physics with summa cum laude from the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, Germany. Presently he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, University of Aveiro (Portugal). N.A. Sobolev is author/co-author of more than 180 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings with the referee, 3 book chapters, 6 Inventor’s Certificates of the USSR. He held Visiting Professor and Visiting Scientist positions at the Universities of Jena (thrice), Ulm (twice), NUST MISiS of Moscow (twice), Technical University of Berlin. He was the chair or member of committees of more about 30 international conferences and held numerous invited talks at scientific meetings. He is a member of editorial boards of seven research journals.

Research Area

His scientific interests cover the fields of defects in semiconductors and quantum size semiconductor structures, electron magnetic resonance, optical spectroscopy of solids, magnetically doped semiconductors, magnetic nanostructures, composite multiferroics, resistive switching and memristors.
